Here’s why you should never skip your warm-up

Be it a weight training session, a dance class, a run, or a swim, it is essential to warmup before your workout to minimise the chances of injury. The purpose of warmup before any physical activity is to prepare your body for the chosen activity. Here’s why you shouldn’t be skipping your pre - workout warmup and stretches -



1. It will help in increasing your body temperature -

Warmup exercises increase your body temperature and your heart rate which in turn increases your blood flow which means more oxygen reaches your muscles. This means you will be able to perform your workout with ease.


2. It improves efficiency of movement and range of motion -

A good warmup helps in activating the connection between your nerves and muscles which will improve the efficiency of every movement you perform. Always add a few dynamic stretches to your warmup sessions. This will help with increasing flexibility and range of motion.





3. It will help you reduce the risk of injury -

The last thing we want is to suffer any injury after a good workout session. To make sure no injury hinders your progress, make warming up a part of your workouts. Warm ups improve muscle elasticity, helps in loosening the joints and improves blood flow to the muscles which means less chances of injury!


4. It will help you get more flexible -

No warmup is complete without a few dynamic stretches. Stretching also increases the blood flow to your muscles and over time helps in increasing your flexibility.


5. It will mentally prepare you for your workout -

Jumping head first into an intense workout can throw you off your game. A nice warmup sessions allows not only your body, but even your mind to prepare for the workout that awaits!
